Mid Devon Natural History Society |
The Mid Devon Natural History Society was formed by a group of enthusiasts in 1981 and holds regular meetings based in Tiverton. New members and visitors are always welcome at meetings for a nominal charge. There are also field trips throughout the year.
Aims and objectives of the M.D.N.H.S.Page25L1P229:
"The objects of the Society shall be to encourage interest in natural history; to study natural history in its environment; to protect species of wild life and the environment; to promote the exchange of ideas and interests with other natural history societies and conservation bodies and to conduct field study expeditions to places of interest".
The part you can play:
If you are interested in any aspect of Natural History, you are welcome to join the Society. "Expert or novice, professional or amateur, old or young, the only qualifications necessary are interest and enthusiasm".
If your interest lies in a precise area, there is room for you to develop it within the Society. At the same time the range of activities and projects is wide.
We have species to count, creatures to study and flowers to encourage.
Activities include public lectures, monthly meetings and group meetings.
The Society is affiliated to the Devon Wildlife Trust. Some meetings are organised in co-operation with other natural history and conservation groups.
A newsletter is published regularly which includes articles by many of the members on their work and observations. Contributions are always welcome.
Subscriptions are due on January 1st each year, without notice.
